Sleep your way to healthier hair?

Sleeping Beauty may have had the right idea…a study published in the British Medical Journal (http://group.bmj.com/group) published a study showing a link between the appearance of health and vitality and sleep. Carried out by the Karloniska Institute in Stockholm, the study photographed 23 healthy adults, makeup free and with their hair down after a restful 8 hours of sleep and then again after no more than 5 hours of sleep. The result? After 8 hours of sleep the same group was considered more attractive by the focus group.

Here’s why:

Our bodies require sleep to maintain skin radiance and balanced body chemistry. A separate study from the Belgravia Centre in Britain found that hair health and growth patterns can be disturbed by lack of sleep. A full night’s rest allows the proteins that comprise hair strands to fully replenish and rejuvenate for the most glossy and thickest look…a look we’ve forever labeled high on our attractiveness scale!
